Hollywood Tales From The Outer Fringe by William Karl Thomas is a collection of 12 short stories that follow the lives of people serving A-list Hollywood celebrities during the 1950s-60s. A security guard on Hollywood Boulevard finds much in common with a Japanese gardener. An aspiring photographer visits a cafeteria on Hollywood Boulevard to pick up leftovers and meets other starving artists. After taking a bath, a motion picture photographer accidentally locks himself out of his own office and has a memorable encounter with a shy publicist. Having faced discrimination his whole life, a black musician unexpectedly bonds with a white actor. Two friends pose as directors to trick women, only to find their match in two aspiring young actresses. A retired maid to celebrities regales her young granddaughter with stories of debauchery by movie stars.
