“I believe that we live in a continuing Advent—a time of expectation—a time of waiting. For all of us, God is the origin from which we came and yet also the future toward which we are going.” This resounding statement by Bernard J. Fleury captures the heart and soul of How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven. As the first book in the Called into Life by the Light Series, the book explores how light both externally and internally is important for everyone, the place of baptism in the Christian faith, the continuous process of being made perfect, the concept of holiness, among other interesting topics. Fleury has worked as a teacher, principal, professor and a Roman Catholic deacon. His vast experience greatly illuminates this book.
Frankly, I was attracted to How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven by Bernard J. Fleury after I read its subtitle: Called into Life by the Light. The representation of Jesus as the light was an interesting frame of reference that instantly pulled me in. I particularly liked the way the author incorporated other viewpoints sourced from other writers and concluded with giving his own opinion. This made the book’s content not only rich but also enlightening. The analogy helped me get a better grasp of Fleury’s message and what he ultimately wanted to convey to the reader. Somehow, Fleury manages to capture the Christian’s journey in this world, from start to end. This makes How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom a great read for everyone, regardless of the stage they are at in their walk with Christ.
