“I believe that we live in a continuing Advent—a time of expectation—a time of waiting. For all of us, God is the origin from which we came and yet also the future toward which we are going.” This resounding statement by Bernard J. Fleury captures the heart and soul of How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven. As the first book in the Called into Life by the Light Series, the book explores how light both externally and internally is important for everyone, the place of baptism in the Christian faith, the continuous process of being made perfect, the concept of holiness, among other interesting topics. Fleury has worked as a teacher, principal, professor and a Roman Catholic deacon. His vast experience greatly illuminates this book.

Frankly, I was attracted to How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven by Bernard J. Fleury after I read its subtitle: Called into Life by the Light. The representation of Jesus as the light was an interesting frame of reference that instantly pulled me in. I particularly liked the way the author incorporated other viewpoints sourced from other writers and concluded with giving his own opinion. This made the book’s content not only rich but also enlightening. The analogy helped me get a better grasp of Fleury’s message and what he ultimately wanted to convey to the reader. Somehow, Fleury manages to capture the Christian’s journey in this world, from start to end. This makes How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom a great read for everyone, regardless of the stage they are at in their walk with Christ.

How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven is the first book in the Called into Life by the Light series by Bernard J. Fleury, an inspirational book that explores the deeper meanings of the images of “light” and “life” in connection with Jesus Christ and the core message of salvation. The author starts with an exposé on the use of the images of light and life in sacred scripture. He explores the intrinsic relationship between the two terms, and how Jesus Christ appears to be the very light that unveils the mystery of our ultimate destiny, leading us to the transforming life that is union with God. In this book, the author offers a powerful catechism on topics such as Jesus as the Light and Way to heaven, the hidden import of the Nicene Creed, what it means to be holy, and a lot more.

The book is written in a compelling style, with prose that is very accessible, and the author shows great mastery of the Catholic faith, the scriptures, and the sacraments. I enjoyed the chapter that talks about attaining inner peace and the path that leads to it. The book is short, but laced with powerful insights and a healthy discussion on the mission of Jesus to lead believers to heaven. The tone is authoritative, yet compassionate. The chapters end with questions for reflection and spaces that readers can use for notes. How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven is a book that exposes some of the powerful truths in the Bible, especially Jesus’ role as a shepherd, leading us to the Father. It’s a gift of faith, one that will fortify and encourage readers on their walk with God.

Divine Zape

How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven is the first book in the Called into Life by the Light series by Bernard J. Fleury, and there couldn’t be a better Easter gift than a book that explores the mystery of Jesus and the biblical meanings of light and darkness. In this book, the author explores the love that God has for humanity and shows how that love becomes a reality in a spiritual relationship with Jesus. Readers will understand the meaning of light and life as used in the biblical context and how one leads to the other, but most importantly, they will understand the intrinsic relationship between light and life, words that are loaded with symbolism and mystery and that could be identified as synonyms in some contexts in the Bible.

I enjoyed the way the author handles the “how” in the title, helping readers see the path to travel to the promised life in heaven. It is interesting how the author uses real human experiences as examples. In this book, the author offers a very lucid and powerful definition of faith as a journey, as “a relationship with a person,” and unveils the most crucial moments in this relationship. Reading this book felt like having a good conversation with someone sharing their faith and ultimate hope in a very simple manner. The writing is devoid of theological jargon that can making comprehension hard for the ordinary reader. The biblical references were very relevant and they helped me reflect again about my faith. How Jesus Christ Leads Us to the Kingdom of Heaven carries a powerful message of love and hope for humanity. Very informative and packed with inspiration, Bernard J. Fleury’s book will definitely edify many people.
