How to Beat the Dream Stealers by David Mendenhall is an uplifting guide about how to identify and handle people and circumstances that are obstacles to achieving dreams. The book identifies two types of people or situations: dream stealers and dream makers. Dream stealers influence someone to abandon their dreams while dream makers encourage others to pursue their goals. Mendenhall grew up in a small town. After graduating from high school, he moved away, later living in different cities and traveling across the world while on a two-year mission for his church. He highlights the lessons he has learned as a successful entrepreneur and from his encounters with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

Though meeting people or facing experiences that influence our decisions on whether to pursue our dreams is quite common, few of us examine the impact such people/situations have. Most times, we unconsciously follow their words and influence. How to Beat the Dream Stealers is an essential tool as it helped me become conscious of the internal and external factors that stand in the way of achieving my dreams. Organized into three parts, the work delves into every aspect of the topic including distortions in thinking that are powerful dream stealers, types of dreams stealers, aligning values with goals, and focusing on goals. It is concise and includes funny and engaging illustrations that are helpful in further explaining the information contained. It also includes numerous motivational quotes from different notable figures that are related to the main topic and suggestions for applying the content. How to Beat the Dream Stealers by David Mendenhall offers powerful, applicable tools about overcoming obstacles that stand in the way of achieving desired goals.
