Tessa Mansfield is a highly independent and resourceful woman who has given up hopes of marriage and children to become a confirmed spinster and highly sought-after matchmaker.

Tristan, the Duke of Shelbourne is a rake who is turning 30 and sorely in need of a wife and heir to his fortunes. He hires Ms. Mansfield to secure a suitable wife for him and the machinations commence! While the Duke's demands are high, Ms. Mansfield's methods are unorthodox and bound to bring her in constant contact with a Duke for whom she has romantic feelings of her own.

Endeavoring to honor his family with a suitable wife, the Duke tries to hide his feelings for the matchmaker. Endeavoring to honor her role as a nonjudgmental matchmaker, Ms. Mansfield uses every once of strength to resist the romantic pull toward her own client. Neither resolve proves highly successful as the reader can anticipate the outcome early in the story. However, the various themes played out in the book are enough to draw in the reader and make that reader want to finish the book to learn just how the various issues are resolved.

How to Marry a Duke is a lovely first novel from a promising romance author.
