In I Love Our Rhythm so Fu#k the Blues, Todd William Fredrick Hunter, Sr. explores the effect of slavery on Black culture from the arrival of the first slave ship in the 1600s to recent times. Todd looks back at the choices in his relationships, work, and Black communities, reflecting on his mistakes and the areas he needs to work on. The book includes thought-provoking discussions about Black women's opinions of Black men, unity within the Black community, the effect of raunchy and violent lyrics in today's music, and how religion is used as a manipulative tool, among other topics. Todd, born in the 1960s, has witnessed significant changes in the Black community. He writes this profoundly insightful book to help restore love and positive relations among all Blacks.

The chapters in I Love Our Rhythm so Fu#k the Blues contain poetic, lyrical words that allow the reader to better understand the book's messages and commit them to memory. As a music lover and musician, I particularly loved the author's comparison of music lyrics from such historical periods as the James Brown era and today's gangsta lyrics. I completely agree with the author that Hip-hop music today encourages self-hate and needs to be more positive. Hopefully, the book's messages will reach every Black man and woman in the US, as Black relationships, families, unity, and love would be much better for it. Todd tells it like it is—no sugarcoating or avoiding difficult topics. His candid, relatable, and deeply inspiring words are the perfect catalyst for a much-needed Black love revolution. His book spreads one important message: Black love matters!
