In Landing On My Feet, James Kleiner takes us through his teaching experiences, his journey with music, and the relationships he developed at his various career positions. James Kleiner has had the opportunity to teach and be a positive influence in the lives of children from grades 4 through 12. From his introduction to teaching in 1971 until he departed from Connecticut's 6th-grade school in 2015, we witness the realization of his childhood aspiration to become a teacher. The memoir reveals his memorable moments and the lessons he gained from his teaching journey. Whether learning about Rhianna's and Ciara's music from his students or conducting an orchestra of area professionals, James' love for music shines through in his memoir. It's a story about the beauty of passion and the serious sacrifices teachers make to contribute to the development of children.

James Kleiner brings attention to the ways education can fail when egoistic parents are involved. Thankfully, his journey as a teacher also consists of encounters with exemplary characters, including David Mitchell, who became a professor of music at Kent State University. Since the narrative is engaging and conversational, readers will enjoy following and learning from his life story. Also, the book has a collection of interesting themes, including music, job loss, interviews, influence, loss, teaching, history, school shooting, and the orchestra. Overall, Landing On My Feet offers us all important lessons and stories that remind us to maintain great values and do our best to contribute to a better world, especially with the younger generation.
