If You Were Me and Lived In... South Korea: A Child's Introduction to Cultures around the World (Volume 3) by Carole P. Roman is a children’s book introducing the country of South Korea. Written from the perspective of a child who is from there, it provides glimpses of life in that land. Everything from what your name might be to how you might celebrate holidays is included.

Our world seems to shrink more every day. We have instant news, much of it slanted in a negative fashion that casts fear of people and places that we are not familiar with. We hear reports of wars and other atrocities that work to paralyze the minds of those who see only one side of a nation and its people. This book is a much needed element in our culture, and in other cultures around the world, because it shows the beauty of the people of South Korea, and the many positive and wonderful things to find in that land.

I could see the importance of a book like this to those children moving to South Korea, traveling there on vacation, or who simply have friends who are from that land. A book like this helps bridge the ever-widening gap of suspicion in our ever-shrinking world. Starting kids off with a healthy perspective of other cultures and people is what helps create peace. This book provides that perspective. If You Were Me and Lived In... South Korea: A Child's Introduction to Cultures around the World (Volume 3) by Carole P. Roman comes highly recommended.
