Author Biography

Sharon L. Clark is a romantic suspense author hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, where she never outgrew her enormous imagination and continues to feed both her hopeless-romantic heart and her villain-wannabe brain.

An avid reader from a very young age, Sharon still enjoys living vicariously through the heroines in adventure novels, falling in love again and again through romances, and getting the tar scared out of her now and again. After attending the University of Northern Iowa Sharon met her husband, Andrew, and together they have raised three pretty cool humans and a handful of dogs. It wasn’t until she was nearly an empty nester that she decided to focus on writing, and let other people see what goes on inside her head: the good, the bad, and the bizarre.

I’ll Call You Mine is her debut novel, but you can check out her short stories and other musings on her website or see what she’s up to on her other social channels. She also has a collection of short stories and serials available on her channels "Hodgepodge" and "The Path of Least Dysfunction" at Channillo. She is represented by Amy Brewer through Metamorphosis Literary Agency.

I’ll Call You Mine: Enderlin Calling, Book 1 by Sharon L. Clark is a romantic thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Katie Parker left her small mid-West town of Enderlin to make a name for herself in the marketing world in the bright lights of San Francisco. What she found in San Francisco was an abusive and manipulative work and life partner who not only took credit for her efforts but physically and emotionally abused her. She also appeared to have a secret admirer who was rapidly turning into a scary and dangerous stalker. In desperation, she flees San Francisco for the peace and tranquility of her quiet, safe, mid-western town. There she meets the handsome, cocky, but incredibly sexy Ben Collins. The spark between the pair is undeniable and the electricity literally crackles. Is Katie ready to subject herself to another romance so soon? The chemistry, though, is hard to deny and to complicate matters, Katie’s stalker has not only found her back in Enderlin but is becoming bolder and scarier by the day.

I’ll Call You Mine is genuinely suspenseful and exciting. Author Sharon L. Clark does a superb job of setting the scene for a steamy and powerful romance between Katie and Ben while simultaneously ratcheting up the tension as the stalker draws ever closer to Katie and subjects her to intense fear and anticipation. I loved the way the romance weaves perfectly around the psychological terror of an unknown stalker waiting for his chance to strike. The character development, especially Katie's, is first-class. Here we have a strong, independent woman who is never afraid of standing up for herself brought to her knees by an unknown assailant playing games with her mind. The romance with Ben beautifully counterpoints this utter fear of the unknown, giving the book great depth and character. The lovemaking scenes are erotic and steamy without ever crossing the line. What particularly appealed to me, as a male reader, was that it was Katie, who had to depend on her resources and talents to save herself from her dilemma while the alpha male in Ben was left on the sidelines, worrying and feeling impotent to act. I was pleased to see that this is Book 1 in a series. I identified with these characters and would love to read more about them. This is an exciting and suspenseful read that I highly recommend.

In Sharon L. Clark’s, I’ll Call You Mine, after finishing her education, Katie Parker left her small town in Iowa and moved to San Francisco to pursue her career in graphic art and account management at a large and prestigious firm. But after her boyfriend and colleague took all the credit for her campaign work, she broke up with him. Then she begins to receive presents and letters from an unknown admirer, but as these become more threatening, she runs back to Iowa. There, in Enderlin, she stays with her brother Nick in their parents' home, but the stalker follows her. The love letters and texts become ever more vicious and dangerous, and one night she is physically attacked. She begins to fall for her new workmate Ben, but is unable to trust him, especially when his ex-fiancée turns up. The attacks escalate and there is nowhere for her to run. Her unknown admirer terrifies her, and she has no idea how to stay safe.

I’ll Call You Mine by Sharon L. Clark is about the fear that an unknown admirer and stalker can bring. In some scenes, Katie is a modern young woman, feisty, ready to stand up for herself, yet on the other hand scared for her very life. Since stalking has been highlighted in the media, the theme in this book is realistic and relevant for modern readers. Clark keeps up the action from beginning to end, and the sense of helplessness Katie experiences comes through clearly in every chapter. You feel for her plight, even though she does all the right things; for example, she involves the sheriff's department but there is little they can do. As the story comes to a climax, we are kept guessing as to who the villain might be. Is it someone we know or have never met? The woodland scene is excellent and left me quite breathless. This book is well-written and keeps up a good pace from the first page to the last.

Sharon L Clark’s romantic suspense novel I’ll Call You Mine took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Katie Parker returns from San Francisco to her hometown of Enderlin to escape an obsessed admirer, hoping to make a new start in her career. Her new job at Dixie Printing helps her make inroads into her new goals, and over time she forms friendships in the town and workplace, especially with co-worker Ben Collins, with whom sparks seem to fly. As Katie and Ben’s connection develops into something more, Katie’s sense of safety is threatened, and her stalker’s harassment turns dangerous. Will Katie face her fears head-on and survive the storm that threatens to consume her? Clark had me hooked from the mysterious letter at the beginning, which introduced a shadow of danger and a sense that Katie was running from her past and unresolved fears.

The author uses a blend of humor, conflict, and flirtation to develop the dynamic between the characters, taking my emotions on a rollercoaster ride that kept my heart racing throughout the read. The main protagonists were relatable characters who came with their emotional baggage and flaws. Although there is an instant attraction between them, Clark takes time to develop Katie and Ben’s relationship from a professional connection to a supportive partnership. There is a definite transformation arc for Katie from a victim to a survivor in the storyline. Katie’s journey shows that confronting fears can lead to personal growth. I also loved how Katie had emotional support from her family and friends, which was also helpful in her transformation journey. From start to finish, the pacing is steady, keeping Katie’s anxieties on the backburner while the storyline keeps moving forward. If you enjoy heartfelt romance with edge-of-your-seat suspense, Sharon L Clark’s I’ll Call You Mine is a treat.
