In Power There's Silence by Adam N. Dix starts when Billy White stepped into Trina Rose’s cantina. After a while, Billy proposed to Trina, and a year later, their son, Blythe, was born. When Blythe was eight years old, Billy drove away toward the big city, disappearing from Trina's and Blythe’s lives for good. Trina continues running the business with the manager, while Billy is left with the thought that he may never see Trina or Blythe again. Blythe starts digging into Billy’s past, only for Trina to urge him to bury the past for the sake of the living. Years later, Blythe returns to San Blas with his wife, Sara, on their honeymoon. During a celebration dinner, Sara’s father offers a toast welcoming Trina and acknowledging Blythe’s accomplishments. This reunion between the two families has been shaped by the deception of the two fathers of the families.

In Power There's Silence by Adam N. Dix develops at a steady pace, giving me enough time to process events before moving on. The present and the past are intertwined throughout the plot without detracting from each other. Themes of identity, forgiveness, and keeping secrets were handled with great care, and I was immediately intrigued. The unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat. I had difficulty putting the book down, and was turning the pages as fast as I could. With their detailed backgrounds, it was easy for me to relate to the characters and their struggles. The book was excellently written, and although it is a long read, it held my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed this book, and it will stay with me for a while.
