In Infanticide by Christopher Everidge, Jacob arrives at Rose and Miles’s wedding slightly confused and very distraught. His name isn’t on the guest list, and the only woman he has ever loved is getting married to someone else. But Jacob has not come unprepared; he has been planning this for months, and if all goes as planned, he’ll soon have Rose right where she belongs—in his arms. Jacob has loved Rose since first laying eyes on her in high school, but he just never dared to tell her. But a perfect opportunity has presented itself, and all Rose needs now is a gentle nudge in the right direction. Or a hard shove. As Jacob’s plan to infiltrate Rose’s life takes shape, those closest to Rose start paying the ultimate price. Merely collateral damage, they become pawns in a dangerous game of deceit. But Jacob is about to learn that sometimes the best laid plans are the ones that create the most chaos.
Infanticide is a psychological thriller about manipulation, obsession, and the need for total control. It will have readers eagerly awaiting Jacob’s next move. With a nail-biting plot and a dark, ominous tone, the storyline offers a perfect mix of trepidation and anticipation. There’s no doubt that Jacob is a psychopath with narcissistic tendencies. Yet it wasn’t difficult sympathizing with him, as his neglect as a child spoke volumes about who he turned out to be as an adult. Mistaking his obsession with Rose for love, he committed the ultimate act of betrayal. Christopher Everidge paints a vivid picture of how much power an adult truly holds over a child, and it is horrifying. Creating a scenario of raw emotions and pain was Jacob’s ultimate goal, but unfortunately, in a game like this, there are no winners. Engrossing and unpredictable, fans of psychological thrillers will absolutely adore Infanticide.
