Introducing Super Sporty by Ellie Firestone revolves around Sporty and her best friend Harley who play basketball for Shorthorns. The team has two new members, Tennessee and Carlo. Tennessee has been chosen as the new captain of the team instead of the experienced Trinity. Sporty understands that they are not originally Tennessee or Carlo, but the notorious Blarg and Splatt. Their intention is to hypnotize and take Trinity to planet Zzangoing where, once she puts the ball through the net, the key to the Universe will float out. They will take it and control the Universe using that key. The second volume in the book shows Sporty and Harley going in search of Drakk who has escaped from the space prison. This part also has Harley being kidnapped. Will Sporty be able to save her friend?

It's definitely a story that children will enjoy reading, especially if they like adventure, action and superheroes. The illustrations are colorful and they complement the plot and characters very well. The book is good for bedtime story telling and read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The Horsecitty gang is adorable and will enthrall children with their adventures. The underlying message of teamwork is excellent for readers and they can apply it in their lives too. Books with a moral and message are good for children to read as it helps them understand the concept in a better way.
