Isecas The Dream Cat and The Tides of Change is a children's fable by Preston Squire, with illustrations by Dixie Albanez. Isecas was a gift to young Hank — a promise that his wishes would come true. Hank is mostly content with his life and his loving parents, whom he loves with all his heart, but everything is not the way he wishes it would be. His parents are constantly arguing, and Hank wants it to stop. Isecas, the cat who makes wishes come true, makes this happen for Hank, but in an indirect way, not the genie-in-a-bottle way that Hank had hoped for. When his parents separate, he realizes that things happen for a reason, and through Isecas' lessons, he learns acceptance and that wishing for things to be different or perfect is not what life is about.
Isecas The Dream Cat and The Tides of Change is a special book with many invaluable lessons for children, as well as adults. It is especially helpful for kids who need to understand life and love when their parents go through a divorce. Naturally, we wish such events would never occur, but through being alive, we also learn that life is never perfect, but full of learning. Preston Squire has written a beautiful and imaginative story with relatable and likable characters. The illustrations by Dixie Alabanez are professional and eye-catching yet simple enough to blend with the writing and message of this tale. A wonderful book with relevant themes, immersive storytelling, and life lessons that are universal and inspiring.
