It's Time to Turn Up! No More Trauma is a work of non-fiction in the self-care, advice, and guidance subgenres, and it forms the first book in the Life Change Series of useful and emotive guidebooks. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience but would also be helpful for older teens and young adults, and was penned by author Lady D. In this insightful and straight-talking guide, we explore the after-effects of trauma, including stress disorders, self-esteem, and mental health issues. Using her own life experiences in the foster care system as a springboard for action, Lady D offers sage advice on using the talents, gifts, and imagination you’re given in order to combat and triumph over the past.

Author Lady D offers a frank work that certainly makes mental health practices seem so much more accessible, taking away the mystical fallacy that only pills and professionals can help us and putting that power back into our own hands. I loved the focus on creativity and related to that immensely, and it was truly inspiring to see how we can utilize small behaviors and seemingly simple positive ideas and grow those into major life changes if we stick to them. The work is well arranged to find important sections that you might want to refer back to, and I felt really comfortable with the narrative, as though the advice was being offered by a dear friend rather than some anonymous white coat. Overall, It's Time to Turn Up! No More Trauma is a must-read for those wishing to self-actualize and feel proactive in their mental health self-care.
