Jimbo The Farting Robot is a children’s humorous picture book written and illustrated by Momo J. Pug. The inventor’s laboratory is filled with amazing creations: a superpowered cleaner, a poke-bot which ensures the inventor never snoozes on the job; there’s even a trapper keeper bot capable of performing the same general functions the old organizer by that name used to perform. Every invention has a useful function, and they’re all rather proud of their abilities and uses. Except for Jimbo, who, oddly enough, is the inventor’s favorite. Jimbo came along when all the good jobs had already been filled; there was nothing left to assign him. In a moment of whimsy, the inventor decided Jimbo would fart rainbows. Whoever heard of a farting robot, no less one that farts rainbows? But that is exactly what the odd little robot did, and was quite good at.
Momo J. Pug’s Jimbo The Farting Robot is a sweet and funny story about a diminutive farting robot who must bear being the brunt of the robots’ humor in the inventor’s lab. And while no one in real life farts rainbows, there are lots of kids out there who may feel as useless and unwanted as Jimbo. This story is for them, and for all their tormentors out there who may feel more important or useful or less stinky than their targets. Pug’s story is uplifting, and the author's illustrations work brilliantly with the story. I loved studying the drawings of the laboratory, the different robots, and the parts Jimbo wishes he had been gifted with. And the illustrations showing Jimbo in all his multi-colored glory? Those were my favorite of all. Jimbo The Farting Robot is a grand storybook, perfectly suited for a story hour filled with giggles and visions of robots farting rainbows. It’s most highly recommended.
