Allen Steadham created comic books and webcomics before he started writing novels. He has been married to his wife, Angel, since 1995 and they have two sons and a daughter. Jordan’s World by Allen Steadham is a blend of science fiction and fantasy. The story revolves around a mother and daughter who are mysteriously taken from Earth and brought to another planet to live. The two of them are adopted by a native tribe in the new world where they both eventually find love and acceptance with their newfound family. The main focus of the story is the young woman, Jordan, who goes on a quest with her hunting pack to find answers about why she was taken from Earth. Along the way, she and her companions go through many harrowing adventures that ultimately bring great changes. It is a journey of self-discovery for Jordan that has long-reaching effects for herself and her loved ones on both worlds.
Jordan’s World by Allen Steadham is the beginning of a series and it sets the stage nicely for a tale of fantasy within a science fiction framework. I personally enjoyed the parts of the story that involved Jordan and her mother’s relationships with their loved ones on Earth the most. I found the portal that took them between worlds to be a fascinating concept. The scenes on the planet called Algoren are also well done with lots of action and emotional impact. Fans of fantasy fiction will find much to love in the Algoran scenes full of hunting packs fighting alien beasts, warring tribes, and magical stones. Jordan’s World is full of strong, well-written characters. The plot seems a bit uneven at times, but overall, I enjoyed reading this book. Jordan's World is a fun and thought-provoking story that I can whole-heartedly recommend to fantasy fans who like a bit of science fiction thrown into the mix.
