Lola and her son Sam moved to Hope River to a house set for her aunt Louise. Sam quickly made friends with the neighbor’s son, Caleb. The friendship led to the baseball coach inviting Sam to join the team. Lola hesitates but Matt convinces her to let him play. Matt and Lola become friends and share the pain of losing their spouse. Lola must decide whether to return to San Francisco where all is familiar or stay in Hope River and take a chance on a budding relationship with Matt. It was fun watching Matt and Lola’s love grow, from friendship to love. Lola makes a mess of things when she tries to do things for herself and it brought a smile to my face. Matt is always there to fix her blunders. Both Lola and Matt are hurt and mourn the loss of their mates. Matt knows he is ready to start a new life with someone; Lola is not sure if she is ready for a new beginning.
