His name is Cassius Prince, and he is one of the coolest young men out there. He is smart, funny, he loves reading and he spends all his time in the library, always learning something new! One day his reading gets interrupted by a man who gives him the smoovest gifts, something that every young boy would want to have, and tells him that he is chosen as the new protector of his town, New Greenwood. Cassius is a bit suspicious at first at the almost unbelievable news, but when he realizes that he can time travel and teleport everywhere he wants to, using the gifts he received as the new protector of the town, he gladly accepts his new role! Now, becoming Kid Smoove, Cassius has to figure out how to fight the bad guys and get to school on time! Will he manage to do both, and keep up with other life obligations? He is the smoovest kid out there after all.
Kid Smoove, written by Deontae Henderson, is a lovely, upbeat, and vibrant story about a young man who has an important mission to fulfill but also has to juggle his everyday life and obligations. Deontae Henderson tells Cassius' story in an interesting way, through fun humor and great-looking illustrations, touching upon the theme of responsibility in the process. I encourage you to read this book with your youngsters, as they will be mesmerized by the colorful drawings, humorous approach to the topic, relatable real life situations, and a smoothly written story.
