Kylo's Lament by R.F. Gray is a story filled with terrifying things that can happen in the mind, and they just might spill out into real life too. The book follows a normal guy called Dave whose life begins falling apart when he starts seeing a strange, fuzzy distortion moving on his skin. At first, he thinks he's just tired, but when the weird thing comes back every night—making everything around him look wrong—he falls into a nightmare he can't wake up from. Through careful writing and building tension slowly, Gray creates a feeling of growing fear that gets stronger with each page. As Dave becomes more alone, he becomes less sure: is he going crazy, or has he found something that's really scary? This dark, creepy book gets inside readers' heads, making them feel worried and paranoid long after they finish the book.

Author R.F. Gray is great at making readers feel scared by even the smallest detail, and I was pulled into how he makes the most normal moments feel terrifying by creating a feeling of fear that grows slowly but surely. His writing about being alone and watching someone's mind fall apart feels very real thanks to his descriptive power and attention to detail. The way he mixes the maybe-real scary things with what's happening in Dave's head keeps readers unsure about what's real, just like Dave. Gray doesn't describe the frightening things themselves too much, which actually makes them worse because it lets your imagination take over. Overall, Kylo's Lament is a must-read for anyone who likes horror that makes you worried instead of just trying to shock you and I would definitely recommend it.
