Jamie Lynn House's Last Seen In Chilltown follows Fiona Ferguson, a woman deeply affected by the mysterious disappearance of her cousin, Sarah, ten years prior. Feeling disappointed by her unfulfilled life in her quaint New Jersey town, Fiona passes her time working in a thrift store. She defines her life by the people and things she lost along the way. Very unexpectedly, her life undergoes a drastic shift after an attractive stranger enters her shop, enquiring about Hannah, his missing sister. With the help of an enigmatic statue that grants Fiona the ability to time travel using another person's clothes, Fiona is drawn into the life of the owner of the garment. This becomes the case when she dons an old dress of Hannah's. But in doing so, Fiona becomes a target of the dangers that devastated Hannah. Can she solve this case in time?

Last Seen In Chilltown by Jamie Lynn House is an intoxicating cross-genre mystery novel that will have you on the edge of your seat. What ensues is a character-driven, suspenseful journey with a creative alteration to the time travel trope that is refreshingly well-balanced. The narrative strikes a tone that’s both dynamic and thoughtful, never hovering excessively on character backstory, yet meticulously exposing the profound emotional depth of Fiona’s character arc. The pacing is flawless, and gradually gains momentum as the mystery of Hannah's fate unfolds. What impressed me most was House's ability to balance suspense with realistically woven drama. The author skillfully utilized Fiona’s personal guilt and longing to influence her decisions throughout the story rather than relying wholly on plot mechanics.
