Even though raising children is a blessing, sometimes, it can get overwhelming. Laugh Like A Mother by Kathryn Sprandio Ells is a collection of humor-filled poems and real-life anecdotes that capture the broad spectrum of feelings and emotions being a mother entails. A mother wakes up early in the morning to change her crying baby's diaper and wonders how babies slip into different phases without warning in "Motherhood." "I Am the Adult" reminds mothers to keep their emotions in check as their children drive them mad. "The Blow Out" follows a mother's experience from being the most content in a while to urgently taking her sweet girl to the tub as she blew up her diaper all over her mother. "My Ode to You" is a beautiful poem written from a mother's perspective to the father of her babies.
Laugh Like A Mother is a humorous poetry collection that takes readers through every possible emotion a mother experiences while raising young children. It also contains hilarious anecdotes from author Kathryn Sprandio Ells's own life as a mother of three children, who once accidentally almost set herself on fire. Some of these poems are bound to leave you in stitches. Kathryn's poetry will strike a chord with mothers everywhere, regardless of background. Even as a man, I thoroughly enjoyed these poems. The poetic storytelling is laugh-out-loud funny at times, yet also endearing. There is something very authentic and charming about this collection that I think will be appreciated by a wide range of readers. Whether raging at oneself for missing socks or worrying about changing the baby's diapers on an airplane, this poetry collection will take you by surprise in more ways than one! Highly recommended!
