Legacy of Dragons: Resurgence by T.D. Raufson is an urban fantasy. Dragons were imprisoned for 1500 years and Nethliast, a powerful dragon, thinks it’s time humans were enslaved instead. His army of partials (part human, part dragon) does his bidding and infiltrates the White House, abducting the president. Dragon ambassador, Melissa, wants a peaceful relationship with humans. She unites with members of the army to stop Nethliast from carrying out his plan, but some of the partials are undetectable. Melissa and other dragons use magic to cast spells and often communicate with each other through their thoughts. Although battling with Nethliast, Melissa and her team search for clues that lead to something important to help her cause, but the enemy wants to know what she is looking for.
T.D. Raufson’s dragons, magic, and witches come together in Legacy of Dragons: Resurgence, book 2 in the series. The character development is very remarkable, and the story is entertaining, especially in the strong urban fantasy setting. These dragons are highly intelligent, skillful, and can blend into society without humans knowing their true identities. Resurgence has an engaging amount of action and enchantment that fantasy lovers will like. One can feel the different temperaments of the characters and have sympathy for some. I did not read book 1 in the series, but am now curious to know more about Legacy of Dragons. T.D. Raufson has written a wonderful novel that has a great cover illustration too. The book comes highly recommended.
