Lemonade Revealed by Will Chluho is a somewhat ground-breaking novel for those wanting a personal philosophical study without spending classroom time. Initially, a boy is discovered unconscious on a Pacific Island beach and when he awakens, he is startled to find three entities attempting to help him. The entities represent many of the personal aspects of human motivation and the boy sees all three men as possible father figures. It takes a while for the reader to discover just how the boy arrived at his particular position, but once the mystery is solved, other aspects of the story fall into place. As the boy searches for the father he never had, he gradually realizes that no man is an island. Rather, the accumulation and meaning of one's life is so critically intertwined with the interventions from others and the winds of fate that life becomes an ongoing exploration into what makes life meaningful for each and every reader.

There is a superb opportunity for personal interpretation which facilitates an understanding of the concepts of faith and hope as it applies to the modern world. The three father figures tend to wax and wane in importance as the boy discovers for himself just how he might fit into the overall scheme of the culture into which he has been thrust. Lemonade Revealed is a clever and intelligent exploration of how we all seem to be the lemonade in life, dependent of course, upon how willing we are to accept the lemons presented to us. Anger and feelings of personal limitations are juxtaposed with the feelings of power and privilege and the outcome is a very personalized conclusion of just how well you deal with fear and fear of the unknown. Chluho brings the concepts of Plato and Socrates into the modern world.
