Author Biography

I am a retired teacher of the upper elementary grades. Members of my family include the two dogs and budgies featured in the story and the main character, Fritizi, a Senegal parrot who has been with me for 22 years. Fritzi is very bright and likes to interact with the dogs and the budgies. I often host Lola, my friend's parrot and pets of family and friends when they travel or need a sitter. They have a large all weather sun room overlooking a pond and are mostly out
of their cages. The animals are all characters with personalities so
I thought it would be fun to have them be the characters in skits all orchestrated by mastermind Fritzi, who is a fun guy and has a lot to say. I try to encourage people to adopt rather than shop.

Letters from Birdie Camp or The Theatre of the Absurd Bird by Lola, Queen of Green and Broccoli as told to Jeanne Filiere Juhos is an entertaining story featuring Lola, Teddy, Miss Sophie, the resident dogs, and the furry and feathered neighbors. Lola finds herself in the Birdie Camp. Her mother, Elaine, has gone to some place where she cannot take Lola with her. Lola meets Fritzi, an odd looking bird in the Birdie Camp. Fritzi is cute but a bit wild and uncivilized. Lola accepts the help of Fritzi's mom to mail her adventures at the Birdie Camp to her Loyal Lola Fans and her mom, Elaine. Lola gets invited to play at the Fritzi Playhouse which is also known as The Theater of the Absurd Bird. Let us meet the rest of the characters of the show and have a look at how Fritzi gets all the cast members together for the show.

This book is a fun read in which the story is handled as a spoof of TV series and movies, and the two main characters of Lola and Fritzi will win the hearts of readers. It is a unique approach to a plot and the author's imagination in bringing together an engaging plot makes the book a refreshing read. The pictures are bright and colorful and they help readers connect with the characters. Written in a conversational style, the narration is entertaining and fun. The spoofs on the media are relatable and tangible and will bring a smile to readers. It was fun reading how Lola and Fritzi want to play Greenette O' Feathera and Rhett Bestler in Went With the Wind II. The animal characters are well portrayed and the introduction to the cast is done just like TV and movie cast announcements. It is just not a book for children; readers of all ages will find enjoyment in the characters and in the story.

Birdie Camp is a wonderful place. Jeanne has made some great observations and has brought all the characters to life in her own words to make a wonderful story! The colors are wonderful-bright and cheery and the story is charming. Adults reading to children will pick up little clues that will keep them reading and the children will enjoy the beautiful colors and the silly antics and tricks the birds and dogs play on each other.

A great book to read and discuss after reading in order to catch all the innuendos.

So delightful! The book, Letters From Birdie Camp, is fun and funny! Fritzi and Lola, the main characters, have such unique and creative personalities. Jeanne, the author (along with Lola), has developed a wonderful blend of characters each with his own personality including Teddy, Sophie, and other dogs and feathered friends to present a fun, heart-warming relationship among the characters.
The actual photos (bright and colorful) of the characters adds to the diversity of their personalities. This book is fun and enjoyable for both children and adults.
