Author Biography

J.L. McCreedy is a shoe-string traveler, street food fanatic and a (reformed) attorney who prefers writing stories over legal briefs. She developed an incurable condition of wanderlust while growing up in Southeast Asia as the child of missionaries, and has been exploring the globe ever since. She’s the author of the Liberty Frye series and The Orphan of Torundi, and writes about travel, cycling and living in other cultures at TongaTime.com. She currently lives in a creaky old house in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her husband, an assortment of visiting ladybugs, and perhaps a ghost or two.

Liberty Frye and the Sails of Fate by J.L. McCreedy is the sequel to Liberty Frye and the Witches of Hessen where readers learn how Liberty realizes that she is not an ordinary ten-year-old girl. Libby is eleven today and she feels everyone is behaving weirdly; her mom, her friend Ginny, and, to a certain extent, her dad too. She feels turning eleven was depressing though she had her party arranged on a boat deck. Things take a surprising turn when Uncle Frank's invention brings a swirl of darkness into the room, creating confusion and chaos. Will Liberty be able to bring her party back to the right mood?

For all those who like adventure, mystery, magic spells, fantasy, strange happenings, and unpredictable things, this book will surely captivate and enthrall them. The author pulls you into the story with her excellent narration which is fast paced, vivid and crisp. All the characters are well developed and eleven-year-old Libby's adventures will not disappoint readers. Uncle Frank, Libby, Ginny, Esmeralda, Buttercup, and Sal, and their moments together give readers magic, fantasy, friendship, and adventure that make the story enjoyable and a fun read. The book, with its twists and turns has everything for readers. I like stories with a nautical theme and, as the story progresses, the author captures the beauty and mystery of the ocean along with Libby. A great story and a wonderful read.
