Life of Irrational Choices is an inspirational memoir and self-help book written by Apoorv Vishnoi. The author shares his life chart with the reader, showing the high and low points of his life from the age of 5 through 30 years. Then he shares his story, complete with the irrational choices which were, in the main, responsible for the lows on his chart. Vishnoi's story is actually a frank and humorous coming of age story as the precocious and pampered 5-year-old goes off to boarding school and then masters the art of getting by in the educational process. His goals follow from the one preemptive and terribly flawed one - to make lots of money - and the somewhat circuitous route he traverses towards that goal is fraught with irrational choices and quagmires.

Apoorv Vishnoi's coming of age memoir, Life of Irrational Choices, is charming and very, very funny. It's also very well written, even though Vishnoi did not have becoming an accomplished writer as one of his life goals. Somehow, in all the rush towards high-paying athletic jobs and highly paid start-up dreams, this author gained the ability to communicate in a wry, conversational fashion that is just marvelous. I loved his stories about growing up, especially his father's efforts to teach him mathematics on his vacations. His well-thought solution of using a ruler to find the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle was classic. Life of Irrational Choices is a refreshing take on both the coming of age memoir and the self-help genre of career and life guides. While it may tell you more about what you shouldn't be doing with your life, it does so in a frank, slyly humorous and self-deprecating manner that kept me smiling and wanting to read more. Life of Irrational Choices is highly recommended.

Life of Irrational Choices by Apoorv Vishnoi is an inspiring journey through one man’s arduous life, experiencing his personal highs and lows from childhood to adulthood. The true-life story begins in boarding school in India, where Vishnoi barely passed. As an underachiever, he daydreamed through the rainy season, chased a girl who already had a boyfriend and continued to play around in college with little direction. Until one day, something clicked and life’s lessons started to take hold. Through hard work, he got in physical shape, improved his outlook and became confident that success was an achievable goal, even for him. Yet his lifelong dream of an MBA still eluded him and the nagging question remained … what to do with his life?

In Life of Irrational Choices by Apoorv Vishnoi, we all want to achieve something and goals are our motivation in life, but everyone can relate to being lost without direction. Some people ask for advice, others just go it alone, but most hone in on something in their early twenties. However, the formula is always the same: set goals, work hard and achieve success. Many people get stuck in the rat race chasing perfection and become depressed, as did Vishnoi. Vishnoi’s secret of success is to enjoy life with renewed passion. He learned that happiness is his biggest need and examining his life, setting goals and starting his own business was the path to success. In addition to the poignant tale, he includes: a free life chart, farmhouse template and goals management Excel spreadsheet, as well as advice available at the author’s website.

Life of Irrational Choices by Apoorv Vishnoi is a self-help book aimed at helping one when at a crossroads about the next chapter in life, setting and achieving life goals and enjoying all-round success. Apoorv Vishnoi uses his own life journey from age 5 to draw lessons from his personal experience and in so doing shows the reader the mistakes he made along the way and how he got back on the right track. He examines the high and low points in his life, how the low points set in and how he got back up on his feet, showing that life might distract us from our path, but with focus, determination, hard work and a little help, we can always get back on the right path. The lessons drawn from his life include setting goals, focusing on the set goals, persevering until you make it work and going after your set goals, but without forgetting to enjoy life and be happy.

Life of Irrational Choices by Apoorv Vishnoi is a brief and informative self-help book written in a very easy to relate to style. The fact that Apoorv Vishnoi used his own life story made the book more relatable, more personal and more applicable. I especially loved the style in which the book was written as, through telling his story, Apoorv Vishnoi enabled me to truly understand the different life lessons in the book. My main take from the book is that we all have goals in life but many times we do not state these goals clearly so we easily get distracted, but it is never too late to take corrective action and get back on the right track. Life has more to offer than what many perceive as the standards of success; there are also the little pleasures in life that make it all worth it and these too should not be ignored.
