Lootie’s World Run by Marie Leautey is the incredible true story of Marie “Lootie”, who became the fastest woman to run around the world. The book takes readers on a journey across four continents, starting with Lootie’s early days in Greece, where she finds herself far from her athletic past and decides to reclaim her health and sense of adventure. As her passion for running grows, so does her dream, eventually leading her to attempt a world record. The story follows her through Europe, North America, South America, and Australia, facing everything from harsh weather and loneliness to the joy of new friendships and self-discovery. Along the way, Lootie shares honest reflections about the challenges of long-distance running, the beauty of different cultures, and the lessons learned from pushing her body and mind to the limit.

Marie Leautey writes with warmth and honesty, making her journey feel both personal and inspiring. The pace is lively, moving quickly from one country and challenge to the next, but still pausing for thoughtful moments and humor. Her descriptions of places and people are vivid, and the action is real—every marathon, every setback, and every small victory comes alive on the page. Lootie herself is a relatable and determined individual, and her story is full of resilience and courage. I loved how the themes of freedom, transformation, and perseverance shine through, and as someone who enjoys stories of adventure and personal growth, I found myself cheering for her every step of the way. Lootie’s World Run is a motivating read for anyone who dreams big or just needs a reminder of what’s possible with enough heart and courage.
