Author Biography

LEO Wife, Mother, Veteran, Author. I have been writing for thirteen years. My debut novel, LORD BACHELOR, earned second place in The Heart of Excellence, Reader’s Choice Award in 2016. Although I enjoy the contemporary romance genre, my first love is historical romance.

When I'm not writing, I'm spending time with my husband and two boys, ages 14 and 12. Without their sacrifice and understanding, I would have never been able to pursue my passion of writing or my accomplishment of becoming a published author.

A beautiful spitfire of a heroine…a handsome British hero who’s heir to a family fortune…a dire situation and a brazen scheme – the perfect mix of ingredients in Lord Bachelor, a thoroughly delightful love story by Tammy L. Bailey. Handsome Lord Edmund Rushwood, heir to a British fortune, is enjoying a carefree visit with his good friend, Will Simpson, in the States, after which he must buckle down and find himself a suitable wife. He has just three months to do it, thanks to a caveat in his late father’s will stipulating that he must be married to a rich and socially acceptable bride by his twenty-sixth birthday – or at least be engaged to one – or lose his inheritance. Will, who’s the host of a local dating game show, decides that he’s going to put Edmund on his show as the eligible Lord Bachelor. Beautiful student Abby Forester, who’s working as a waitress at the same function to make extra money, is forced to wait on her former egotistical classmate, Will, and his friend, Edmund. She’s immediately attracted to Edmund, but is turned off when he tells her that he must find a wife. Will remembers that Abby had done a genealogy paper for one of their classes some time back that could potentially contain the ideal blue-blood candidate for Edmund’s wife. The only problem is, she’s not willing to give up the paper for anyone, least of all the debonair Edmund…

As with most romance novels, the main protagonists in Lord Bachelor are attractive and sexy, while also having character traits that both attract and irritate the other. This gives the story the required sexual tension that keeps readers compelled to continue reading. Bailey makes her readers aware of that tension from the beginning and she does a great job of maintaining it throughout the book. Abby has the freshness of a delicate blossom while Edmund is equal parts cocky and caring, making him an irresistible foil to her feisty, spitfire independence. The narrative is solid and the dialogue brisk as the two characters exchange verbal sparring with tenacious gusto. Bailey has a real knack for building the sexual tension, but doesn’t revert to blatant in-your-face sexuality to keep things interesting. Romance novels tend to be formulaic so the dating game aspect gives Lord Bachelor a nice twist. There are also a few poignant and touching moments that are sure to pull at the heartstrings. Equal parts The Bachelor and Cinderella, with a dash of Pride and Prejudice thrown in for good measure, Lord Bachelor is the perfect romantic cocktail worth savoring.

Lord Bachelor by Tammy L. Bailey is the very interesting story of a man who was not looking for love, just a marriage of convenience, until someone comes into his life and changes his whole plan. The novel follows Edmund Rushwood, who is from England and wants for nothing. But his pleasant lifestyle is short lived because on the day he turns 26, he will lose his fortune unless he finds himself a wealthy wife. Desperate to save his inheritance, he joins an American dating show to get a wife who will fulfill the conditions of his inheritance.

He had no idea that his whole life would change on that show. There he meets one Abby Forester who is not rich by any stretch of the imagination. She came to the show as one of his potential brides and soon the two of them have a bond that cannot be broken. They both know that Edmund and Abby cannot get married, not if Edmund wants to keep his inheritance. What can they do? Will Edmund sacrifice his wealth for love? Or will he choose Abby over everything else?

Oh boy, this is my favorite kind of romance where I cannot predict what will happen in the next chapter and the characters keep on surprising me and keep me guessing. I loved Edmund’s character development and I loved Abby’s tenacity. They made a formidable couple, one I adored too much to let go. The story had a fairy tale kind of quality to it yet, at the same time, I felt like I was watching a movie. The story line is very cleverly built so that it grabbed my attention and made me want to read till the very end.

Lord Bachelor by Tammy L. Bailey is a modern romance set in Portland, USA. Lord Edmund Rushfield is an English aristocrat in desperate need of a wife. He has to meet the requirements of his father’s will or lose his wealth. Used to a life of debauchery and scandalous living, Lord Edmund will do whatever it takes to maintain it, including using a TV show to find his bride. Alas, things don’t go as planned as he finds himself attracted to the least suitable girl. Abby Forester is poor and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. As much as he would like to deny it, Abby is the only woman who is able to unravel his hidden heart. Abby has no time for a man, certainly not one who has made it clear that she is not ideal bride material. If only her heart believed the same.

Lord Bachelor is a heartwarming romance that I enjoyed reading immensely. Tammy L. Bailey’s heroine, Abby, is a lovable, modern day Cinderella. One of the things that I loved about her was that she had so much depth to her. Her backstory is well laid out, making her story a true revelation. There are so many good teachings wrapped up in this tale that I don’t know where to begin. You come out of this book fully convinced that love and goodness conquer all things. Tammy L. Bailey has a way with words that left me laughing out loud whenever the hero and the heroine were on the same page. One thing I did find lacking was the tension, and the reader's sure knowledge that the hero and the heroine were always going to end up together. I never doubted it. All in all, however, this is a good book that will leave you with a great feeling inside. A lovely story.
