In Love on the Lido Deck, Barbara Oliverio tells the story of Kiera, of how she quit a high-powered systems analyst career and turned to event planning instead. As her business begins to take off, she learns that her mother, recently widowed, has a new love interest! Kiera isn’t quite sure if she’s ready to meet her mom’s new friend just yet. In the meantime, she gets the opportunity of a lifetime – to organize a big event on board a luxury liner bound for the Caribbean. She asks her best friend, a chef, to help her find some famous chefs to help out by offering classes on board the ship. The cruise turns into an adventure and Kiera meets what could be her perfect match in the shape of Brennan, the Cruise Director. Join Kiera, her assistant Juliet, her mother and all their friends in an adventure of a lifetime on the rolling seas.
Love on the Lido Deck by Barbara Oliverio was a laugh out loud book. Hilarious high jinx, romance and cookery all rolled into one on a luxury cruise – what more could a person want? It kind of reminded me of the old British Carry On films, it was that type of humor and it was very easy to be drawn into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, loved the storyline, the characters were a great fit and the whole thing pulled together like a well-planned cruise. I loved the addition of the recipes at the end, so I may be trying some of those out in the very near future!
