We were created by God as unique and wonderful creatures.  He blessed us with sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing.  We can use these senses to grow closer to the Lord.  I was reminded of a trip my husband and I took to Daniel Boone National Park.  We had seen pictures of the Natural Bridge, but we wanted to see it in person.  The climb was arduous.  The day was hot and humid.  My breathing was labored, but the climb was worth it.  We could see for miles around the majesty of the Lord.  I suddenly realized there were tears running down my cheeks.  I knew God had created this for my pleasure.  I could feel His presence in the wind.  I could see it in the treetops.  The air smelled fresh and clean.  I knew I was in the presence of the Lord.

Tammy B. Melton offers readers a Bible study that will bring the reader closer to the Lord.  The going deeper section has scripture and questions to take the reader to the next level of understanding.  Melton writes in a simple, easy-to-read style.  Loving God With All Five Senses will make a great small group study.  It is easy to recommend Loving God With All Five Senses; it is a great read.

I decided to use this book as a guide for my Bible study for a 6 week period, and it was great! Each chapter has a "Going Deeper" section that allows you to dig deeper into scriptures to emphasize the point of the chapter. The great thing about this book is that the chapters themselves are very informative and thought provoking even if you don't have the time to devote to the "Going Deeper" sections. There are numerous scripture references in the text itself, and also many fascinating facts that show the wonder of God's creation of the human body and our senses. Tammy Melton does a wonderful job of illustrating how God wants us to draw closer to him, but we have the choice to make on whether we'll recognize the awesomeness of God in us and around us, or be drawn away by our appetites. This book is easy to read and would make a great gift for a new Christian or anyone who wants to draw closer to God.
