Magic Moon: Sister’s Turn by Shirley Moulton is the second book in the Magic Moon series. In this heartwarming story, a little sister worries about her brother’s well-being after his best friend moves away. Her brother is lonely and sad and hasn’t been eating well. Not knowing what to do, she decides to make the treacherous journey up the mountain in the cold and the snow to see Magic Moon. Her brother had visited Magic Moon many times before, and the magnificent orb had told him where to find his sister’s dolly when it was lost. The young girl wishes to help her brother in the same way that he once helped her, and she knows that she can count on Mr. Moon for advice.
Shirley Moulton has an appealing voice that shines through in her characters. Children will find the sequel to Magic Moon: A Young Boy’s Journey delightful, especially as you get more insight into his sister’s character. The young girl in this story is fierce and sassy, making both Mr. Moon and young readers laugh. Mr. Moon is also a jolly character, and his wisdom can also be applied in real life. Magic Moon: Sister’s Turn is highly recommended, as it covers navigating deep feelings, such as grief, care, and love.
The audiobook is narrated well by Shilo Dennis, Gwen Dennis, Ewan Dennis, Linda Abdo and Preston Abdo, who enhance the characters’ personalities immensely and give them each a unique voice. The sound quality is also very clear, allowing you to imagine the events that are transpiring in real time. The main character, the young girl, particularly stands out, as you can gauge her emotions from listening to the narrator.
