Magnolia and the Gang Save the Day by George J. Linsenmeyer, III is a charming children's tale that occurs under the sea. When Peter the Pelican and Sammy the Sea Bass realize their friend Kevin the Crab is missing, they quickly gather their other ocean buddies to look for him. Magnolia the Mermaid, Sherri the Shrimp, Willie the Whale, and others join in the search for Kevin. Their adventures take them to Pirate’s Cove, where they discover Kevin is trapped in a shipwreck. Getting him free isn't going to be easy, but if the friends combine their many unique skills and follow Magnolia’s clever rescue plan, maybe, just maybe, they will manage to rescue him after all. This spectacular story is a wonderful reminder that no one has to face their challenges alone. Ultimately, true friendship shines brightest when we work together to help one another.

The creative illustrations by Artsoluki bring this inviting narrative to life. What makes this tale stand out is how each character contributes something different to the storyline. Magnolia’s cleverness, Peter's helpfulness, Kevin’s curiosity, and Willie’s strength all show that everyone has value, especially when working together. The story avoids focusing on just one hero and instead shows how teamwork makes a difference, which is very inspiring. The ocean setting is described in a way that is calming but adventurous, which helps pull young readers into the story right away. The language is simple enough for children to understand, while still carrying strong messages that older readers can also appreciate. This book will be enjoyed by children and older readers who love animal adventures or narratives about teamwork and problem-solving.
