Marcus Douglas Presents The Cycle of Completion is set in a Christian environment. Nebuchadnezzar, once the Chief Scientist and the Orator of New Jerusalem at the beginning of the story, has led the region away from its once utopia-like setting. He dismisses God as the focus of New Jerusalem and is determined to have people rely on themselves instead of God's word. It's definitely not God's will, as the Orator leaves behind the scepter used for communication with Him. David, a young boy who had osteoporosis in his youth, listens with his brother, Noah, as his father reads a testament about David's grandfather, Abdul. When New Jerusalem was formed, the area was encased with protection by using almost unbreakable glass. The new city was broken into Localities, and Locality Seven was sealed off after disease and famine swept the region. The presence of extreme rains, disease, the threat of war, and a much-needed satellite reset make it seem like David's locality will suffer the same fate as Locality Seven. A new Orator is needed to take New Jerusalem into the future, and a threat reveals itself from a place everyone thought was lost.

Marcus Douglas has produced a book that will keep readers engaged until the end. The reader learns about New Jerusalem, David's family, and his best friend and armor-bearer Elijah's situation in layers. Douglas extends lessons of faith, perseverance, and grief, and shows man's plans are not God's plans. The material is reminiscent of several biblical events, like King David's anointing, Jesus's Parable of the Sower, and prophetic dreams. The story has several twists that will leave readers with their mouths open. Abaddon is a horrifying presence, and Douglas uses him to demonstrate humility. Readers will discover a multidimensional plot that brings the characters full circle. Jesus's Parable of the Sower is used throughout the story, and it's restated in several examples, giving the reader a clear view of the meaning of the connection and comparison. I couldn't help feeling like I was hearing about the events prophesied in the Book of Revelation, as a false prophet, war, and disease were present. Readers who enjoy action-packed, Christian-themed works will love Marcus Douglas Presents The Cycle of Completion.

This audiobook was narrated by Dale Rich and Skye Alley and produced by Marcus Douglas. Rich can move between the characters easily, even overlapping the voices of the characters when needed. With his strong, firm voice, I wasn't surprised to learn he's a minister. Alley's voice was calming, and she glided between languages effortlessly. Both vocal artists can maintain a range of characters and intonations. The music accompanying the words is soothing and swells into a crescendo whenever pivotal scenes play out. With the music, strong character representations, and vibrant Christian story, I felt like I was watching a movie in my mind or inside the story.

Marcus Douglas Presents The Cycle of Completion: The Sower, the Seed, and the Soil by Marcus Douglas is a unique work of fantasy fiction that interlaces futuristic dystopia with Christian non-fiction. The story transports us to the imaginary city of New Jerusalem. It is 2059. We meet David Shakir, a high-born grandson of Abdul Shakir, the founder of New Jerusalem. Abdul created New Jerusalem as a haven for the survivors after sixty percent of humanity perished in the nuclear war and from lethal diseases. Now his grandson David is the new Orator-elect for the city, but God must confirm his election in a sacred ceremony. Awaiting God’s verdict, David reminisces about his life’s milestones. What are David’s memories? Will God confirm David’s election?

Marcus Douglas’ The Cycle of Completion gripped me instantly by the relatable story of David’s childhood interwoven with the testament of his grandfather Abdul’s life. I liked how Marcus portrayed the story’s events spanning three disastrous decades from the onset of COVID-19 to its most lethal VX-7 mutation. I marveled at the unusual storyline that wrapped Abdul’s life in David’s life. I also enjoyed how the dystopian storyline highlighted the highly topical pandemic, environmental, and military threats, interweaving them with Biblical testaments. The restoration of Abdul’s faith in God was particularly thought-provoking, and the unexpected, jaw-dropping, and most satisfying ending made this brilliant story particularly memorable.

The audio production of this superb novel deserves special praise. Talented Dale Rich and Skye Alley brought the story’s characters and events to life with their clear, distinct voices and flawless sound recording. The musical background accentuated the most suspenseful moments and released the tension, enhancing my listening experience to nearly cinematographic. This superb perfectly composed, narrated, and produced story is a great read for teenagers and adults and will appeal to dystopian and fantasy fans.

Marcus Douglas Presents The Cycle of Completion: The Sower, the Seed, and the Soil is a work of fiction in the dystopian and adventure genres. Penned by author Marcus Douglas, this is a gripping tale set in New Jerusalem, a city isolated from a world ravaged by disease and war. Once a utopia, the city is now on the brink of collapse due to a new, deadly disease and the failings of its leader, Nebuchadnezzar. As the city’s systems fail and resources dwindle, hope rests on the frail shoulders of young David Shakir, the grandson of New Jerusalem's founder. Confined to a wheelchair but possessing a deep faith, David, along with his protector Elijah Ruiz, must confront the threats both inside and outside the city's sealed walls.

Author Marcus Douglas’s skillful storytelling and rich world-building craft a compelling journey with an emerging message of faith and hope. His ability to weave complex characters, moral dilemmas, and a suspenseful plot into a seamless narrative keeps listeners hooked from start to finish. This is not just a tale of survival, but a meditation on faith, leadership, and the human spirit. Douglas’s talent for creating vivid, thought-provoking scenarios makes this well worth recommending to fans of dystopian fiction and anyone looking for a story that resonates long after it ends. Overall, Marcus Douglas Presents The Cycle of Completion offers a lot to think about, making it a very memorable read indeed.

In its audiobook version, brought to life by narrators Dale Rich and Skye Alley, I discovered an engaging experience that enhanced the tension and drama of the story at every turn. Rich’s resonant voice brings authority and gravitas to the narrative, while Alley’s expressive tones add depth to the characters’ emotions, each complementing the energy of the work as a whole. The narration is clear and crisp, with expertly balanced sound editing that ensures each word is easy to follow, even during the most intense scenes. The narrators’ performances draw the listener into the world of New Jerusalem, making it an immersive auditory experience.
