I am a fan of Michael Crichton. He has the ability to send chills down my spine with mere words. In "Micro" he asks readers to look at the world around them in a different perspective. If we were shrunk to a tiny inch in height, how would the world look to us? Imagine that an insect like an ant is the same size you are. Imagine the powerful jaws clamping down on your body. Remember ants work in groups. Imagine that each and every twig is the size of a log and tiny pebbles are boulders. This in part is the scenario Crichton places before readers in "Micro". Even more dangerous are the humans looking for you.

In "Micro" a company has developed the technology to shrink objects including living objects. Seven students are invited to tour the company located in Hawaii. Vin Drake, CEO, shrinks the students to keep his murderous secret intact. The brilliant students must depend on their knowledge and common sense to survive the Rain Forest.

The characters in this book are fantastic even if they are a little over the top. This is Michael Crichton at his best. I have long been a fan of this prolific writer. Among my favorites are "Congo", "Prey", "Timeline" and "Jurassic Park". Crichton has a way of mixing technology, science fiction, thriller and romance to create a thrill ride. Crichton has the unique ability to allow fear to build. This book was found as an unfinished manuscript after the death of Crichton. Richard Preston completed this masterpiece.
