It is so refreshing to read a children’s picture book about Christmas where the major character is a person of color. Mr. Nap A. Lot learns what the spirit of Christmas entails in Mr. Nap A. Lot’s Merry Christmas Adventure by Shani T Night. Mr. Lot walks around the town noticing all the people enjoying the Christmas spirit by spending time together and being nice to each other. Love is in the air and families gather to spread that love and warmth for each other. Everyone is kind to each other and gives selflessly. Christmas is all about sharing love and spreading joy to all living beings. This book is a joy to read and share with your children. No matter what your religious background might be, you can enjoy sharing with your child how important loving each other is.
Colorful illustrations and rhyming words are just part of the charm of Mr. Nap A. Lot’s Merry Christmas Adventure by Shani T Night. This well-written children’s picture book will become a classic and one of your child’s favorite Christmas stories. Shani keeps the reader engaged and interested in what happens next through her skillful writing. This book is great to use to teach your children that Christmas is more about giving than receiving. Help your children learn the joy of sharing and assisting others in the spirit of Christmas. You might even consider letting your children pick out one of their new toys and then give it to a child less fortunate. I know my children always enjoyed baking bread and cookies and then taking them to the homeless. Be creative but find ways to spread the Christmas love and joy.
