Every year, over a long weekend at Christmas, Mistlethwaite Manor hosts a party for invited guests only. The event is a mystery weekend, and the person who can solve it wins a £10,000 prize. The only thing more mysterious than the guest list is who the host of the manor is. Lady Hastings can’t believe she’s received an invitation. When she arrives at the manor, she’s mortified by the revelation of the host and who the other guests are. The weekend doesn’t go as planned. The host is murdered, and one of the guests is responsible. To make matters worse, the manor is snowed in, and the body count rises. Nobody can come to their rescue for a few days. Can Lady Hastings solve the murders and stay alive long enough to tell anyone? Read Murder at Mistlethwaite Manor by AJ Skelly to find out.

Murder at Mistlethwaite Manor harks back to the likes of Agatha Christie. It’s not stated when the story is set, but the descriptions of the clothes and implements used suggest it’s the Victorian era. The setting makes for some wonderful scenes between the characters, who all must behave according to their breeding. I chuckled at watching them try to maintain their composure when clearly they couldn’t. If you crossed And Then There Were None with Clue, you'd get Murder at Mistlethwaite Manor. In this case, though, there is no Mrs. White in the library with a candlestick. The fun aspect of AJ Skelly's story is trying to guess who the killer (or killers) is. I couldn’t put the book down as I had to know the truth. This novel is for lovers of classic whodunnit mysteries, especially those set in the UK in the past.
