It’s actually pretty rare to find a children’s book that manages to be this educational while staying so moving, but My Brother's Voice by Kim Luskleet really hits the mark. This story about Sam and his brother Scott—who is Autistic and non-verbal—is an absolute must for any family navigating neurodivergence. There was this satisfying click for me as I read how Sam describes his brother’s world; the book doesn't treat Scott's way of communicating as a deficit or a problem, but rather as a different, beautiful language we all honestly need to learn. Seeing the "Social" inclusion of a non-verbal child handled with such grace and simplicity is just a total knock-out, and it provides a much-needed blueprint for how we should be talking to our kids about their peers.

What really made me tear up was the authentic, raw relationship between the brothers. It is so refreshing to see a bond built on pure, unconditional support and a real willingness to meet someone exactly where they are. As a parent who has two boys on the spectrum, this story hits home in a way that is honestly hard to put into words—it’s like seeing the daily reality of my own living room reflected on the page with so much kindness. This story is such a powerful reminder that love speaks in so many ways beyond just words. Kim Luskleet has created a restorative piece of literature that helps cement the idea of inclusion for young readers. My Brother's Voice is the kind of book that opens up vital conversations and helps bridge the gap between neurotypical and neurodivergent worlds. If you want a book that fosters true empathy and understanding, you just have to add this to your shelf. It’s an amazing, heart-centered triumph, and I'm definitely sharing this experience! Very highly recommended!
