In My Not So Wicked Ex-Fiancé by Jennifer Peel, when Shelby Duchane moved to Carrington Cove, she planned on making a fresh start. Now a year after escaping her controlling parents and cheating ex-fiancé, Ryder Prescott, she receives a letter from her cousin Bobby Jay that Prescott Technology is setting up their business in Edenvale, less than an hour away. To make her situation even more unbearable, the CEO and her ex, Ryder, will be staying at the Carrington Ranch where she lives. How has Ryder found her and what does he want? Shelby thought nothing could have come between her and her true love, Ryder; her parents had tried everything to break them apart and it had failed. But in the single moment Shelby discovered evidence that Ryder had cheated, everything she held true had been destroyed. Is she prepared emotionally to face Ryder again, especially when his revelations turn her world upside down?
Although this is the second book in the series, this is a stand-alone, beautifully created novel that will draw you into the world of the characters immediately. I loved the delicious three-dimensional characters. Emma was a friend that everyone deserves, she was so supportive of Shelby. I loved Shelby's grit and determination, and her values to become happy on her terms were commendable. The electricity between Shelby and Ryder was superbly relayed. However, the star of the novel had to be Bobby Jay, a somewhat larger than life character. The revelations throughout the book added real interest to the plot and the development of character relationships, especially between Shelby and her parents. The sub-plots were equally as strong and engaging and complemented the main storyline perfectly. I feel the moral of the story is not to judge someone too quickly, especially if the source of the information only has selfish intentions. The sneak peek at the third book in the series certainly whets your appetite for more from this talented author. If you love a novel that touches all of your senses, then I highly recommend you read My Not So Wicked Ex-Fiancé by Jennifer Peel.
