Going to school can be daunting for youngsters because they face new situations in a different environment. However, this is the beginning of a learning path where they can make new friends. C.M. Harris shows them the advantages of going to school. She describes the activities from the point of view of a boy who talks about all the good ideas he has heard from his teacher. The narrative starts from getting up, eating breakfast, and getting ready. Then it talks about the bus ride, moving on to interacting at school. At this point, it shows how exciting it is to be with other children and study new things. My Teacher Says: A Day At School also reminds young readers how to act in class, be polite, and respect others.

I loved the illustrations by Eduardo Pupa. The warm colors evoke a comforting atmosphere and are full of happy moments in various settings where the enthusiasm and energy of the children are evident. The narration is appealing because of the melodious writing style, with short sentences and simple vocabulary. My Teacher Says: A Day At School is perfect for children who are learning to read and developing a love for books. The story is enthusiastic, making everyday activities look cheerful, encouraging children to start their day with a good attitude. What I liked most is that C.M. Harris naturally includes useful advice in her verses. They are always focused on good values, such as sharing or resolving differences by talking politely.
