Gillian Heart has an amazing voice and a dream of making it as a country singer in Nashville, but as these things tend to go, it’s an uphill battle. At least until she meets music agent Will Adams and it seems like things are starting to look up. The problem for Gillian and Will is that they are extremely attracted to one another, but he doesn’t date clients and she doesn’t date guys in Nashville. This conflict made Nashville by Heart a really entertaining story and Tina Ann Forkner did a good job of bringing the starving artist part of Nashville to the forefront.
I enjoyed the fact that Gillian was still sweet and genuine, she wasn’t obsessed with herself or her career. She was just dedicated to making it happen which made it easy to root for her. And Will was absolutely swoon worthy with his sultry smile and sweet words. They were a fun couple to watch fall in love, and Tina Ann Forkner gave Gillian just the kind of small town background that made her endearing. I would have loved to know more about Will and his life since we learned so much about Gillian, but it didn’t really take away from the novel. Another thing Nashville by Heart did well was introduce a few great supporting characters like Tasha and Aubrey, Dorothy and Louise, who were all great. They added a depth to the story without overwhelming the reader. Overall, this was a good southern romance that was beautifully executed.
