A Love This Grim by Elora Morgan is a dark and twisting tale about true love and the consequences of fighting for it. The story follows Avalia, the adopted daughter of The Grim Reaper, Death himself. Avalia’s whole life has been defined by her fragile mortality, a natural consequence of having an overprotective and immortal father. Growing up, the only thing Avalia wanted was to spend forever with her father, and maybe to live long enough to experience normal human things like love and being desired. When Avalia is suddenly thrust deeper into her father’s world than he has ever before allowed, the possibilities of falling in love do not seem that far away.
Elora Morgan has written a beautiful story, and the pages are filled with laughter and heartbreak. A Love This Grim is not just the love story of Avalia and Noric; it is a haunting tale about how a happy ending might not always look the way you expect it to. I was addicted to the unravelling of this story, and the writing had me hooked from the very beginning. A Love This Grim is deliciously dark and tastefully told. I enjoyed every second of this book, feeling the love and betrayal like they were my own. Just when I had made my peace with how I thought the story would end, my tears dried, and I was thrust into a dark twist. This time, it gave the characters, and myself, the hope that we had been looking for. A Love This Grim is dark, gloomy, and perfect for anyone wanting to break their own heart and heal it again.
