Nature Stew by Etaine Raphael is a delightful children's picture book that follows Deer and Tiny Bird as they try to cook a special stew. Deer suggests inviting their animal friends to join in the fun of gathering ingredients for the stew. They reach out to Big Baby Panda, but he declines the invitation, preferring to munch on his bamboo instead. Undeterred, Deer and Tiny Bird continue their cooking adventure. Their laughter and excitement draw other animals, who contribute various ingredients and join in the playful banter. When the stew is finally ready, Big Baby Panda comes over to take a sniff but reacts with a tantrum about the smell. Curious to prove him wrong, Deer and Tiny Bird taste the stew, only to realize that it doesn't quite have the right flavor and is missing a special ingredient. What is the missing ingredient?
Nature Stew is a fun and educational book that teaches children about cooking, different foods, counting numbers, and the importance of teamwork. The story is simple and easy to follow, filled with charming animal characters that children will adore. Etaine Raphael uses rhyming words and a lyrical tone, which gives the narrative a musical quality and makes it engaging to read. Big Baby Panda’s antics and the animal jokes at the end of the book add an element of humor. Additionally, the book features an educational aspect, as the different ingredients are presented in a numbered format, encouraging young readers to identify the missing number. The vibrant illustrations bring the characters and their environment to life. I highly recommend sharing this wonderful book with your children, as it offers valuable lessons about collaboration, patience, and the joy of shared experiences.
