Mia Mitns has crafted a unique, out-of-this-world science fiction story in Naya's Invasion, which is the second book in the Fall Invasion series. Death and terror open this story as Naya lures James Smith to his death with an apparent promise of sex. Yet, after chasing him down, attacking him and taking his life, she unexpectedly chooses not to turn him. Though Naya had been trained not to have feelings, her return to planet Earth has opened a door in her heart. Not only does she ultimately spare James' life, but she soon sniffs out a man, who quickly weaves his way into her heart. Her fellow aliens want to remove this human along with the others. Will Naya be able to protect him? She has to decide whether she should stay with him or leave him in an effort to spare his life and humanity. With a deep desire to stop the invasion from her homeland, Naya has to make more than one life changing decision. With Naya's decision made, Mitns wraps up the story in a way that leaves the reader wanting to know what will happen next.
Naya's Invasion could be read as a stand alone science fiction, but had one read the first book in Fallen Invasion, it might have prepared him or her a bit more. It would have been helpful to have repeated a bit from the first book to help the reader understand what is going on in Naya's Invasion, and get a better grasp on Naya and her team. However, starting in the middle isn't always a bad thing and it can encourage Mia Mitns' fans to go back and pick up the first book. With bated breath, her fans will be anticipating the release of the next book in the series.
