Neanderthal Gita by Michael Baldwin is an action-packed environmental thriller that tells the story of Lolasker, a half-Neanderthal boy. His mother is Elizabeth Lazaro, an American doctor and anthropologist, researching the prehistoric culture, who was assimilated by a Neanderthal tribe in the wilderness of the Altay Mountains of southwestern Siberia, where Mongolia and Kazakhstan meet Russian Siberia. She was fascinated by the culture, fell in love, and decided to stay, eventually producing a halfling. A Neanderthal warrior with Bhagavad-Gita philosophy, his son Lolasker, together with his Neanderthal uncle Romash, eventually end up in India in the strange world of modern society and have to learn the ways of the Greedy Ones to survive. Neanderthal Gita is a unique coming-of-age story with more than its share of danger, romance, and suspense.

Michael Baldwin’s Neanderthal Gita transports his readers from the wild steppes of Siberia to the dangerous streets of Kashmir in India through a vividly descriptive literary style that pays meticulous attention to minute details. The book is also a treasure trove of information on prehistoric culture and the ills of modern society with an original plot that explores the possibility of Neanderthals living among us. With well-rounded characters and an interesting and logical plot, the premise becomes highly conceivable. Lolasker’s story also encourages readers to take better care of nature and the environment by letting them experience what it is like to be a Neanderthal hunter. This is an exhilarating read. I highly recommend this book to readers of all ages!
