Elizabeth Stevens gives us a modern twist on a Jane Austen classic in Netherfield Prep: Austen Reimagined. Lily Brewer had lived in Australia with her mother her entire life. When her mother passed away, Lily was shipped off to England to live with her father. His idea of family, however, is to send her to a boarding school where she joins her two stepsisters. With Lily already a cynic about love at the age of 17, Austin Cooper, a rich boy with abs to die for, only serves to reinforce her opinion on true love. And when Austin’s twin brother, Jackson, shows interest in Lily’s roommate, Anne, it appears that Austin won’t let them be together. Will the pride and prejudice of one twin hurt the other? Or can love conquer even the coldest heart?

Author Elizabeth Stevens has made an outstanding literary effort and executed it with perfection. Written in the first-person narrative from the perspectives of our main protagonists, we are privy to the inside knowledge of their true emotions. Character descriptions are marvelous, and I had fun comparing various characters to the version I saw. I loved the twists and turns in this book. The plot is strong, and the pace is steady, pulling you along without much effort. This book was wonderfully addictive! I loved the constant theme of family of the heart versus family of the blood running through these pages. Suitable for young adult readers and avid fans of Jane Austen, Netherfield Prep is a brilliant romance for genre fans.
