Malidora never expected to find herself in another world, not after losing half of her own. In Neverscape: Bewilderness Book Three by Kevin Cox, we journey along with Malidora as she discovers that her world and the universe itself may be destroyed, all for the sake of harvesting the energy of organic beings. Given a fresh start in a world so very different from her own, Malidora seeks to stop the Gaith and perhaps save the universe itself.

Neverscape introduces a whole new world filled with weird creatures and fascinating concepts. Kevin Cox managed to create an even more imaginative world which had me engrossed every step of the way. The world-building was brilliantly done, from the descriptions of the beings inhabiting the planets like Kandom to the various forms of energy that exist in the universe. What I loved even more was that as the reader, you learn about this new world along with Malidora and see how she adapts to it. It allows you to connect with her character and draws you into the story even more. On top of that, there are so many characters we are introduced to as Malidora travels and each one is unique. From the Sirunak to the Gesauren, you never know what type of being you will encounter next. There was never a dull moment and Cox always keeps you on your toes with every page turned. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend giving it a read.

Neverscape by Kevin Cox is the third book in the Bewilderness series. Malidora’s journey continues as she finds herself on Kandom where she faces dangers such as the Shadows and the Hollow, while also exploring the depths the world has to offer. She has been chosen for the mindscape and forces will drag her soul there whether she wants it or not. As she travels through unfamiliar territory, she partners with unlikely allies to help her prevent the control of Gaith as he plans to harness the energy of souls and conquer everything in the universe. The darkness continues to grow inside her and as she fights to save the world around her, she must determine her purpose.

Malidora is a stunning example of empowerment as she’s a fighter and a survivor that has consistently fought to stay alive. Despite what she encounters, her perseverance is seen throughout the story. Her resilience is a prominent part of her character and what drives her forward. Kevin Cox sets up the opening as a way of jumping directly into the action, immediately constructing the chaos and the intensity while upping the obstacles and dangers that Malidora will be facing. She’s an engaging character with a simple desire to protect every living thing and it’s this purity of intention that gives her humanity. Internal conflict is a central theme in Malidora’s journey as she’s facing the darkness within herself, a struggle that is thoroughly explored.

The writing is impeccable, weaving lovely phrases. The world that Cox has created is vivid and full of details that fully immerse you in the story. Different creatures, energy, and places create this amazing high fantasy adventure. All these elements are woven together to create an original setting such as the hollowspace described as being worse than death, the mindstream where the souls that Gaith drains go, and deadspace which is the absence of existence. Malidora encounters many characters throughout the tale. Some are allies and some are dangerous, but each one provides an interesting turn in her journey. Another dazzling read in the series, Neverscape takes Malidora on an adventure across an incredible landscape of high fantasy that will hook you from the first page.

Having narrowly escaped the attention of Razinoth and the Hollow, Malidora finds herself transported to a strange world. Before fully taking in her surroundings, she is captured by a detachment of Barandiers, a military formation on the planet. There is a war brewing with a familiarity to it that makes Malidora's skin crawl. Could this be yet another chance for her to salve her conscience by saving this world's inhabitants from the same fate that befell her home planet? She may be a thief with the blood of her loved ones on her hands, but Gaith and the Nulthereals will not destroy this planet as they have done to others before it. Find out what happens next in Kevin Cox's Neverscape.

It's another battle of good versus evil but this time on a galactic scale in the latest offering by Kevin Cox. Neverscape is filled with unique creatures with unusual names. Still, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to decipher what they do, as his vivid storytelling style draws you into a world of bloody battles and vicious fighting as if you are on the planet as it happens. His characters are beautifully drawn with a certain ethereal quality to the monsters among them while their conversations spark intrigue, and our curiosity is piqued with each step toward the finale. Malidora's portrayal as the flawed hero is exquisite in the way her flashbacks remind us of her potential for as much evil as good. Neverscape tickles the mind of the fantasy genre aficionado in a way few novels can; Cox has outdone himself with this one.
