No Ordinary Horse is a charming work of whimsical fiction penned for children and it was written by author S. R. Tease, with accompanying illustrations by Eva Rodriguez. Adding a new layer of cuteness to the picture book genre, this charming tale features a bright and brave little horse as its central protagonist, and we are about to learn that she is no ordinary horse indeed. Through her fears of not being normal and not fitting in with the other horses, this special little creature will learn the truth about having bigger dreams than those around her, and what it takes to break free and achieve them.

In a world of image culture and fitting in with looks, this delightful and adventurous picture book begins to teach the values of personal, individual beauty and appreciating oneself from an early age, and it’s something to be truly celebrated. The illustrations by Eva Rodriguez are certain to engage children right from the off, especially for the bright and expressive faces of the characters, helping readers to see the beauty of our central little gem even when she can’t see it herself. Coupled with the gorgeous wordplay and deceptively simple brilliance of author S. R. Tease’s phrasing, the result becomes a compelling story of triumph over the feelings that society sometimes gives us, and the rising up and empowering feeling of being our authentic selves against the odds. Overall, No Ordinary Horse is an essential self-esteem building book for young readers to enjoy again and again.

No Ordinary Horse is a children’s picture book written by S.R. Tease and illustrated by Eva Rodriguez. The young horse tried so hard to be like all the other horses. They told her to “just be normal,” but it seemed impossible with the way her imagination soared. She loved to share stories about magical worlds where things were altogether different from the ordinary world. She even envisioned horses with wings, who flew like birds. The other horses scoffed at what they called her silliness, and they called her weird. And, in truth, she felt different from the other horses. She knew she wasn’t an ordinary horse. For one thing, she was an unusual color and a different size than the rest of them -- and there was the matter of the bump on her head. But, still, she continued to try to fit in. Then something really magical happened, and everything began to make sense.

S.R. Tease’s No Ordinary Horse encourages young readers to enjoy their flights of fancy and revel in the things that make them anything but ordinary. While it sometimes may feel safer and simpler to be like everyone else, each kid out there has something inside them that makes them unique and special. Parents and caregivers may want to spend time after reading this story aloud to let their young audience share what special qualities, gifts or dreams they have. Eva Rodriguez’s bright and cheery illustrations showcase the young horse and the pastures where she grazes in brilliant pastel hues, and they help make the young horse’s final transformation truly magical. No Ordinary Horse is highly recommended.

No Ordinary Horse, written by S. R. Tease and illustrated by Eva Rodriquez, is about a special horse and teaches a special message about how we are all unique. The author focuses on never giving up, especially when life is cruel. Others can be mean. However, often, when you are just about to give up, that is when you are going to have your breakthrough. The special horse looked in the mirror one last time and realized just how and why she was so different and special. She simply needed to wait for her time to shine.

No Ordinary Horse by S. R. Tease is so good for young readers, as kids can be cruel. The pace was perfect, short, sweet and to the point, from each teasing incident of the special horse to the next. The illustrations by Eva Rodriquez are so lively. The illustrations catch the child reader’s imagination, showing all of the uniqueness. The characters are believable. The story covers the topic of kid bullies, which is a very hot topic these days. Remember the cliques on the elementary school playground when you were a child? This book is similar. This is a children’s book that can teach a lesson to preschool through to elementary school readers. Know a kid that is always left out? A copy of this book could possibly make them smile and show them you understand how left out they feel. No Ordinary Horse by S. R. Tease is an excellent book.

This is a wonderfully-written and beautifully-illustrated book with an awesome message for children. The best person you can be is yourself (unless you can be Batman - haha - JK) and this book helps kids realize this.

This is an awesome story of self acceptance with a fun twist! Kids are constantly bombarded with images of “perfection,” and it is so pervasive in today’s age of social media. It is so important to remind our kids to appreciate differences in themselves and others, and to be proud of who they are. A must read for children of all ages!

Read the book and it reminded me of the childhood story books my parents would read to me when I was a kid. The artwork, story, and layout of the book was excellent! I would recommend buying this book for your children!
