No Perfect Secret by Jackie Weger is a contemporary romance about betrayal and redemption. When Anna learns her husband is living a double life, she could throw in the towel, especially since she has the mother-in-law from hell. But she doesn't want to give her husband that control over her life any more. Because he works in the state department, it makes his deception a national matter.
When Frank Caburn is sent to investigate her husband's deceptions, he is surprised to find the beautiful and lovely Anna. He tries to shield Anna from as much of her husband's lies as possible and keep their relationship professional. But that is easier said than done as their attraction for one another grows. Frank finds himself at a crossroads and considers throwing out his work ethics in order to be with the one woman who could make his life worth living. But Anna is gun shy around men and doesn't want to open herself up to trusting too easily. And how can she ever trust the man sent to investigate her husband?
This is an uplifting, well written story that is heavy on the drama and poignant moments. It is a little deeper than some traditional romances, so have the tissues handy, especially when Anna reflects on past relationships and her mother. But this story also has humor and delightful secondary characters that add a needed spark of comic relief. The best of both worlds!
