No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller is a work of fiction in the science fiction and thriller sub-genres and was penned by author Inge-Lise Goss. The story features an intense cat and mouse game between our protagonist, the rebellious escapee Paislee Hobson, and the powerful and intimidating super android, Pellegrin. When Paislee re-enters society in the guide of a courthouse employee, detection seems inevitable despite all her efforts to keep herself safe. With Pellegrin overseeing huge swathes of the coastal Institutes and humans falling victim to android plots nationwide, Paislee must face her fears and pass right under Pellegrin’s nose in order to master the art of infiltration.

Combining fantastic elements of espionage fiction, crime, mystery, science fiction, and thriller, author Inge-Lise Goss has crafted a highly engaging and high stakes action novel that you won’t want to put down for a second. Along with the merging of genres, the author is in full command of a sense of atmosphere, shifting scenes with intelligent grammar and pacing that change the mood to a knife-edge. Paislee is an open book heroine whose anxiety is often palpable, yet she presents inspiring bravery and commitment to her mission, which makes her someone we can all root for. The plot itself has many excellent twists and turns to keep readers guessing, and the fearsome Pellegrin really pops at every point where he re-enters the action. Overall, this makes No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller a highly recommended read for science fiction fans everywhere.

No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller is the second book in the No Freedom series by Inge-Lise Goss. Paislee Hobson is not living the life she used to, but she is finally living for a cause. She is far from what she used to be, but her past triumphs are proving useful for the rebel group she is a part of now. So when the rebels need someone to provide inside information, Paislee is the perfect person to go undercover at a courthouse in Portland. However, her real struggle begins when she finds out that Pellegrin is around and can easily find her. But her real challenge is when she is asked to gain Pellegrin's trust and get information right from under his nose. She knew it was going to be challenging, but she is sure she can get the job done. Now it is a race against time as she tries to find the information before her cover is blown. Can she do it?

I absolutely loved The Tegens series by this author so I had high expectations from this book. Honestly, I expected nothing less from Inge-Lise Goss. Paislee is a smart woman and she knows how to handle any given situation, even though she is nervous at times. I loved how tenacious she was; her determination and her stubbornness really drew me in. The setting of the story was incredibly well-crafted. I enjoyed the universe and how well-developed Paislee was. Pellegrin is deceitful yet he is very smart. I loved to hate him and despise him. The author made sure to make everything as believable as possible and I had zero issues with imagining what was happening. I could imagine a world dominated by androids and humans being helpless against their advanced intelligence. I could almost hear Paislee’s voice and feel what she was going through. I think my heart was racing the entire time I was reading and I loved each second of it. Kudos to Inge-Lise Goss for another brilliant novel!

Paislee Hobson thought she was finally free of Pelligren, the android who turned their master/servant relationship on her when she escaped him to join the rebels. Her life finally had purpose and meaning as she found a new life in a new city, where she was free to carry out her mission and be a new person with a new identity. Unfortunately, Pelligren got a job promotion that not only expanded his grasp on humanity along the West Coast, but brought him right back to Paislee. Soon, she's captured and has no choice but to settle back into her former life as a rebel spy until they can once again extract her from Pelligren's grip. No Reprieve: An AI Thriller by Inge-Lise Goss is a sci-fi thriller that will leave you wondering until the very last page which side of the fight Paislee will land on.

No Reprieve: An AI Thriller is an interesting and different kind of sci-fi novel. The dystopian world that Inge-Lise Goss presents still has elements of the very society that we know and understand while integrating technology that definitely shows the risks of merging man and machine too much. Paislee's conflicts between Pelligren and the rebels are also fraught with action and conflict, as there are several fights where it's unclear whether the goal is misdirection, or for the rebels (or the Institute) to obtain valuable information for future campaigns. Nothing is what it seems, as loyalties are divided and motives aren't clear in a society so paranoid of AI intervention that they live strictly by a "need to know" rule. If you're looking for a different kind of sci-fi novel, then this is a good pick.

No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller by Inge-Lise Goss is a piece of science fiction at its best, a story with stunning relevance to the scientific evolution that has quickly created a society where android police are commonplace. Paislee Hobson is lucky to have escaped from Pellegrin, a powerful android. Now on the side of the rebels, she goes undercover as a new employee of the Portland courthouse. To her surprise, she finds out that her greatest enemy has been promoted and now has eyes everywhere. She will need to regain Pellegrin’s trust in order to infiltrate his domain and complete her mission. The stakes are high. Pellegrin is no fool. As the androids continue to wreak havoc on humans, Paislee must risk everything to bring them down, and can she?

Inge-Lise Goss writes beautifully and has successfully created characters that readers can relate to. The idea of android characters is ingenious and she handles it with intelligence. This is one of the books that explore the theme of the dangers of science without moral checks. The novel presents a society where man is ruled by the robots he’s created and where our liberty is slowly being sold away to Artificial Intelligence. The plot is cunningly written and it is interesting to follow the protagonist as she races against a formidable foe — the multiple dangers, the narrow escapes, and the traps she has to outwit. No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller is a pulsating story filled with action and a fast pace; an enjoyable read for fans of science fiction. And it makes the reader think as much as it entertains.

No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller by Inge-Lise Goss is a science fiction novel that grips the imagination. The new world order is ruled by The Institute which controls humans by changing some of them into cyborgs against their will and planting microchips in the heads of babies, among others. Paislee Hobson, who has escaped the control of the powerful android Pellegrin, has joined the rebels and is given the assignment of infiltrating the Portland courthouse to steal vital information. She assumes the identity of Renee Taylor and quickly finds out that avoiding detection is a matter of life and death. Paislee soon faces her toughest assignment in Los Angeles, that of gaining the trust and confidence of the powerful Pellegrin. Can she escape detection from the android police?

No Reprieve: An A.I. Thriller by Inge-Lise Goss is a fast-paced science fiction thriller that is both chilling and engaging. Imagine a world controlled by a faceless Institute and androids that will do anything to control the human population. Paislee is a character any reader can easily empathize with and Pellegrin is the android we love to hate. This is a classic David versus Goliath battle with humans on one side and androids on the other side and the scale continues to go against Paislee, our heroine. Inge-Lise Goss creates a world that is unimaginable but, at the same time, it is very possible so it sends a chill down the reader's spine. No Reprieve: An A. I. thriller flows like a river; sometimes calm, sometimes tumultuous, but always with a determined purposed and this is perhaps what makes it such an enjoyable read.
