Jordan McClellan may not have understood why many things happened as they did in his life. But one thing was clear. He made many bad choices. Born the last of the three children of Eamon McClellan, a former Texas Ranger turned farmer in Oklahoma, and Rachel Detweiler, a devout Catholic, Jordan struggled to live up to his siblings’ achievements. Danny, the oldest, a star athlete throughout his school years, now had a promising career in Major League Baseball. And for Becky, the second and equally gifted, her future seemed as bright as her undeniable charm. However, the family’s legacy is threatened when Jordan causes an accident at his father’s ranch. Both Eamon and Danny sustain serious injuries, which see the former hospitalized and the latter’s career cut short. Drowning in depression from his actions, Jordan seeks solace in alcohol. But then, this only leads him into another disaster that earns him jail time. Soon, Danny enlists for World War II. Will he make it back alive? Will Jordan survive jail? Find out in Jim Logan’s Of Saints and Rivers.

This page-turner will grab you by the scruff of your neck and won’t let go until the final word. Jim Logan’s Of Saints and Rivers is a must-read for lovers of slow-burn historical novels with a touch of drama, adventure, and more. Weaving an intriguing plot, Logan introduced a compelling, dynamic cast. The subtle tone harnessed to the storyline had me on the edge of my seat, hanging onto Logan’s words. The colorful, evocative, and cinematic depictions brought the scenes to life on the pages. Paying attention to detail, but just enough not to bog down the pace, Logan took me back to the late nineteenth and early and mid-twentieth century. I could not help but marvel at the beauty of the prairies and the rural landscape of Western Oklahoma. The plot is anchored on a gripping, poignant tale of forbidden love, romance, family, drama, fate, redemption, sacrifices, and more. The conversations are layered, emotionally nuanced, and reflective. They gave depth to the cast’s conflicts, intricate emotions, and complex traits. I loved this book.
