Over Byron Bay by Jane Ellyson is an absolutely gorgeous romance set against the backdrop of Bangalow, Boston, Brisbane and Byron Bay. Melissa Brinkley and Andrew Wyatt have been friends for as long as they can remember, a friendship shared by their families as well. But a time comes when choices must be made and for Melissa, it is about moving away. She gets married to Jonathan, but over the years, she still can’t stop thinking about Andrew. Then when she returns home for a three-week period, they meet each other again after five years at the funeral of Andrew’s mother and the spark they once felt for each other is rekindled. This time, they end up spending the night together in a hotel. Melissa wakes up alone to learn that Jonathan, her husband, has died in a ghastly accident. She later learns he died with his mistress, Milly; a shocking discovery that could be behind the stress leading to the loss of their child. Can she find the courage to love again after the betrayal and the tragedy of losing her baby? Can it be she was destined to be with Andrew? And can they make things right this time?

This is a story of family, friendship and love in very trying times. It’s one of the finest stories I have read in romance, an absolute wonder, tender, hypnotic, and deeply moving. The characters are real and it will be sheer delight for any reader to navigate the hidden depths of the hearts of the characters and their powerful emotions. Yes, the tale is emotionally rich, well-paced, and plotted with skill and imagination. You will feel as though you are listening to a true story. Over Byron Bay is a great read and Jane Ellyson proves to be a great storyteller.
